Introduction Tiffany McCleary

Tiffany McCleary

Hi! My name is Tiffany McCleary and I am a senior at the University of Houston-Clear Lake majoring in communications. In 2019, I decided to return to college after a seven year hiatus to finish my bachelor’s degree. I am a single mom to three amazing children and a full-time Media Relations Manager/Revenue Accountant in the oil & gas field. I became a mother when I was still in high school and it was then that I made a promise to myself that I would graduate college no matter what. Now my oldest daughter is 19 and I am finally reaching the end of a very long journey to completing my bachelor’s. I believe that you are never too old to start something new, finish something you started, or change course in life. The time will pass regardless so it doesn’t matter if it takes you two years or ten, you control where you will be when you look back! Because I’ve come this far I figured, “why stop here?”, so I decided that I will continue my education in graduate school next year.

Before I left college in 2012, I was a psychology major and psychology is still a passion of mine. I changed my major to communications but I never lost my love of studying and understanding human behavior. I believe that all of my past and present education and life experience has unfolded in a way that is helping me reach my purpose - to share and spread love, unity and compassion to the world. It was very important to me to choose an internship that aligns with my beliefs and that is why I chose the National Diversity Council. I want to learn from a company that works to make the world a better, more inclusive place. I believe that no person should be at a disadvantage to reach their fullest potential in life and everyone deserves to be seen for who they are; not the color of their skin, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, or any other factor that has no bearing on their skills and talents.

I am very excited about the opportunity to be involved with the National Diversity Council. I look forward to learning about marketing and public relations for a non-profit organization. I also hope to take away a vast knowledge of how to ensure inclusivity in all aspects of my future career endeavors.
