#NDCVoices Webinar series

On June 29, 2023, the SCOTUS issued a 6-3 ruling that declared the race-conscious admissions programs at Harvard University and UNC Chapel Hill unconstitutional. The ruling has generated a national conversation about the viability of corporate DEI programs. In this webinar, Professor Alvin Tillery, director of the Center for the Study of Diversity and Democracy, will discuss the implications of the ruling for corporate America. The webinar will open with a discussion of how the SCOTUS ruling generates new risks for corporations that make DEI programs more important than ever. It will then shift to a focus on how corporate leaders can preserve their current DEI programs by rearticulating their purpose through the lens of compliance with Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The webinar will close with a discussion of how corporate DEI programs can work toward promoting racial equity through race-neutral means.
