As concerns grow surrounding COVID-19/coronavirus throughout the United States, the National Diversity Council encourages everyone to follow the CDC’s recommended guidelines and “flatten the curve” through social distancing and consistent hand washing. With the spread of COVID-19, we must also acknowledge the spread of xenophobia. The National Diversity Council condemns the alarming growth of discrimination aimed at Asian-Americans throughout our nation. These actions are unacceptable and will not be tolerated by the National Diversity Council or any of our supporters. Fear never justifies harassment or discrimination against any group. As a non-profit organization that is dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion, we urge our nation to come together during these trying times and take a stand against racism and discrimination. We also ask that business and community leaders step forward to reaffirm their support of our Asian-American community and denounce acts of hate and the spread of misinformation.
Now is a time for unity and strength. Now is a time to care for one another. Now is the time to prove that an inclusive community leads to a better nation.
